Using Saskatoon Berry to Repair Post-Summer Skin
I've previously talked about the amazing skin care benefits of Saskatoon berries, from their regenerative properties, free radical reversing abilities and the natural source of sun protection that they offer. Today, I'm going to discuss their bountiful source of ferulic acid.
Ferulic has been getting a lot of buzz in the skin care community. It's a phenolic antioxidant that is naturally found in plants. Saskatoon berries are an abundant source of ferulic acid (and vitamin C). Research has shown that ferulic acid provides antioxidant benefits to skin while enhancing the stability of topical applications of antioxidant vitamins C and E. It also helps defend skin against environmental stressors such as ultraviolet radiation and urban pollution. Of interesting note, ferulic acid supplements don’t appear to have the same potency for skin health as serums do.
In skin serums, ferulic acid tends to work well with other antioxidant ingredients, especially vitamin C, which is also naturally abundant in Saskatoon berries, making Saskatoon Berry Serum a wonderful combination of skin-tastic goodness in a bottle!
I just extracted a fresh batch of Saskatoon berry extract, from organic berries that were grown in Canada. I used a traditional four week, slow extraction method commonly used by Alchemists to garner the true plant essence. Know that a lot of positive intentions and good vibes goes into the very essence of each product made.
